Thank goodness. I'm hoping it cools off in the near future; it's been almost exclusively in the 90s-100s these past two weeks with the exception of today, which was 88. Today was Steph's birthday so we went over to Studio D and hung out for a while there. I need to get my bike (!) fixed asap so I don't need to walk in this goddamned heat.
My classes are actually pretty sick with the exception of Intro to Creative Writing. I'm taking it with a fellow who seems to have a little too much to prove. Somewhat pretentious, it seems, and that frustrates me, but I'll give it a chance, it's required for my major, + it's at 1pm and it's my first class on Mondays so I really don't feel like giving it up. We're reading some good stories; I just am pretty doubtful of the structure of the class considering we literally ONLY read stories for the first 9 weeks - that is, no poetry, no creative nonfiction, no journalism, etc. and then we work on one story the rest of the semester. Not happy about that, but ah well.
However! Right after that class, I have a class called Composing the Self with Doug Sweet and oh my dear god, that man is fucking awesome. I am SO thrilled to have a class with him. He lacks the normal bullshit teachers put between you and themselves, and hates the "intro, thesis, transition sentences, three body paragraphs, fuckfuckyaddayadda" bullshit that so many teachers (ahem, Writing About Film last year) absolutely adore. As writers, though, do they honesty believe anybody's that interested in those sorts of essays? If Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs had been structured that way, I doubt I would've read past the first page. Anyways, Sweet = the teacher I'm most stoked about since I got to Chapman. There's no real "structure" to the class, he doesn't bullshit, he's into creative writing whether it's poetry or prose or creative nonfiction or whatever you want, and he's an avid learner/reader/teacher. I am seriously so stoked on this class.
I'm also taking Beauty of Physics, a non-math physics class. The teacher's pretty chill, gave us cake (which some random nice fellah brought to Heidi and I), and it was a good time. I actually am interested in the subject matter and hopefully won't totally blow at it like I did in high school. At the least, I won't be quite as deterred as I was back then by all the goddamned math.
I'm taking six classes this semester (tomorrow I've got Studies in Literary Tradition at 10 and then Elementary Arabic at 5:30; Wednesday's the same as today but with Social Problems from 7-10pm), so I have to be extra serious. Or serious at all. Something like that.
Hopefully I'll be working on sets in the near future; I know for sure that I'll be on Elise's in October/November and somebody else's around then, too, and that one'll pay. :D However, I need a real job asap. I am applying to a daycare nearby this week; I can't think of a more fun job than working with little kids besides working with animals, haha.
Over and out.
For all your lovestruck-swooning, fucked-up rambling, colorful-hair-shedding needs, I bring you my blog (with blue hair).

I swear, I care.
Two posts in like four hours. Oh, dear.
Yesterday: Heidi and I went to visit folks at the film school while they finished "The Time Traveler." We wore pajamas. Then, Heidi and I went to Rocky Horror rehearsal with Nathan. Then we went back and hung out at his place for a while, drank a bit, and Sabrina came over, as well. We ended up going over to Whitney's because it was his birthday. Proceeded to get more drunk. Left around 3:30, fell asleep at 4, and woke up today at 9:30 am. How? No idea.
Today: Woke up early. Had lunch with Heidi, Jessica, and John. Doing makeup for Rocky Horror, going to the dance show, then going to That 70s House for their 70s porno party.
Tomorrow: Showing girl who's working on Jessica's set what to do for makeup, then pick-up for Wes's set at 10. Getting super dressed up with Heidi. Then pre-gaming (most likely with Nathan) and being his pseudo-dates for "The Time Traveler" premiere at 7! Afterwards, some sort of party, I'm assuming.
Sunday: Call is at 6 am at the film school for a commercial for the OC Register that I'm doing makeup for (we're working with FIFTEEN CATS...!!!) and going to Santa Clarita for that. Back around 7 and then going with Heidi to the Music Conference at the Saloon.
Time is the weirdest commodity.

Scham Tha Funkee Homosexual
My schedule for this coming semester is pretty sicklicious. Nothing starts before 11 am, three of my classes apply to my Creative Writing major, one applies to my Comm minor, and one gets rid of a GE requirement. And the other one is just AWESOME (take a guess at which that is, haha).
Mondays
11 - 11:50 Writing About Film
12 - 12:20 InsideTrack
1 - 2:15 Intro to Poetry
7 - 9:50 (pm) Film Genre: The Western
Tuesdays
11 - 12:15 Theatrical Makeup (!!!)
1 - 2:15 American Literature
7 - 9:50 (pm) Theories of Persuasion
Wednesdays are the same as Mondays but without InsideTrack and Film Genre: The Western.
Thursdays are the same as Tuesdays but without Theories of Persuasion.
Fridays only have Writing About Film and then I'm done!
Fucking awesome. SO much better than my five-classes-on-Mondays, four-classes-every-other-day-of-the-week schedule from the fall. I felt like I had no time to do anything, and it definitely showed in both my grades and demeanor. However, because I'm taking 18 credits this semester, it means I have to quit University Choir and probably voice lessons unless I can somehow audit that shit. I love my voice teacher and she's done a hell of a lot for me, so if possible, I want to stay doing that. Choir...not quite as important to me. I've never been good with large amounts of musicians (about 75% of whom, though very good, are insanely egotistical) all at once.
On a side note, I'm in The Vagina Monologues here. My monologue = "The Woman Who Loved To Make Vaginas Happy." I'm really excited, although a bit nervous because I haven't acted since Glass Menagerie (and I wasn't exactly SAG worthy, haha) and I have horrendous stage fright. I also have to orgasm onstage so I s'pose that'll be interesting, eh?
I fit my first pair of double-flared plugs in my ears. They're horn with an abalone inlay. Tons of Vitamin E oil went into the effort, haha. They're these ones in a 4g. :) Hopefully, at some point in 2010/2011, I'll be able to wear the following in my goal size (1/2"):
